Hmong Daily News
The Hmong story began in southern China. Hmong Daily News began in Sacramento, CA. I am a member of the one-and-a-half or 1.5 generation. Simply, what that means is that I was born in Laos and came to the U.S as a young refugee after the Vietnam War. As the number of foreign-born Hmong population decrease, and the number of U.S. born population increase, there's a greater desire to preserve our tradition, culture, and beliefs through our stories-from our past to our present. According to the latest Census, there are more than 327,000 Hmong living in the U.S. The largest Hmong population in metropolitan cities are Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN (81,000); followed by Fresno, CA (35,000); Sacramento, CA (27,000); and, Milwaukee, WI (11,000). Our reach is young adults and mature readers across all sectors of the community with an expressed interest in the Hmong story and history. By preserving our stories, we preserve our history for the next generation. Delivering quality up-to-date news, and events about the community while keeping up with our evolving culture is our focus. If you have a story to tell, reach out to us.
